Our First Wedding Celebration!
On May 28th, Willow Oaks Plantation celebrated the wedding of Sarah Robertson and Ben Curry. This was the first wedding
of the season at Willow Oaks and it went off without a problem. The bridal party arrived on the evening of Friday, May 27th, for their wedding rehearsal. The forecast called for rain and a few showers fell, causing the gathering to briefly raise their umbrellas. But a little moisture was not going to dampen the spirits of this soon to be married couple and their guests. With their rehearsal completed by 6:00, they were off to enjoy dinner and some revelry.
Unlike the evening before, the weather on the wedding day was beautiful and sunny with a temperature in the low 80s. Vendors arrived on the grounds shortly after noon to begin setting up. By mid afternoon, much of work had been completed and the bridal party arrived to begin changing into their wedding attire. Precisely at 5:30 with the guests seated in front of the main house, a horse drawn carriage arrived delivering the mother of the bride, the groom’s parents and the grandparents of both the bride and groom. Another trip from 
the carriage brought the bridesmaids and the flower girls, and finally the radiant bride arrived with her father. After stepping off the carriage, Sarah was escorted by her father down the aisle of guests and to the front porch where she took her place beside Ben, her handsome groom. After a beautiful ceremony with the exchange of vows and rings, the newly wed couple boarded their carriage and rode off.
While wedding pictures were being taken, a cocktail hour was hosted on the south patio where the guests mingled and discussed the ceremony. When the bridal party arrived everyone retreated to the reception tent for food and festivities, followed by a return to the patio for an evening of dancing. By the night’s end, the bride and groom departed, tired but elated that their wonderful celebration of marriage had been enjoyed by all.
